Messaging tools and Enterprise Social Networks, Am I doing right?

Long time ago for communicating we were only having the phone and after we started to have emails but now we have a lot of tools for communication and sometimes it's difficult to know which tools we should use. I'm going to give you some advices to help you but for now let's list all the different kinds of tools we have to communicate for working :

Phone line and Mobile Phone
Instant Messaging like Skype, Hangout, Line, QQ, SMS / MMS and more
Social Networks : Facebook, Google+ ..
Enterprise Social Networks : Yammer, Google Groups..
Corporate Messaging system : MS Exchange, Office 365, Google for Work, Lotus Notes.

With so many possibilities, we can see that there is a lot of us who keep using corporate Messaging System for everything, is it bad ?

Yes that's bad :), bad for you and bad for your coworkers and contacts, let me explain why:

Corporate Messaging System like Exchange with Outlook Clients are done to be used for exchange of long conversations or important things that you want to keep, please don't use your Outlook to send an email to say "He we go eat in a Japanese today ?" or sending an email to a list of coworkers (maybe the whole company" to say "Everyone say : Happy Birthday to Max for his 34 years ! He Max don't forget to come with Champagne tomorrow.."

Working this way : you are just polluting your coworkers who are not interested or in a meeting with customers and that's one more trash email inside the server for something useless.
